Day 1 Vancouver to Arras
Our first day, which was primarily a travel day is over. What a long day. We left home at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday morning and got to our hotel in Arras about 18 hours later. In between we had a 10 hour flight, 2 hours to gather luggage and wait for a bus then a 2 hour bus ride to Arras. In true Latam fashion we got lost leaving the bus and ended up doing a whole lot of walking before we found our hotel.
It was all worth it, Arras is an awesome little town. We rented an apartment right on one of the main squares, right across from a big old stone church. Right now the square is packed and there is live music. There are big beautiful windows and a really nice breeze is coming in. Once we got settled we went exploring and found a nice outside restaurant for an early dinner. The people watching is great and the beer was cold. After dinner we wandered around and did some breakfast shopping and enjoyed the ambiance of the town. There are some interesting caves in the town that you can tour, we will do that tomorrow before we head to Vimy Ridge. Now, I need to sleep before collapse!
